Director, Procurement & National Accounts
Jason Kass is a member of the management team of the Company. He manages the Energy Procurement Department, where he supervises the team responsible for the purchase and structuring of electricity and natural gas supply contracts on behalf of the company’s customers. Jason works closely with a variety of national accounts, for whom he develops and implements highly customized strategic plans related to procurement. Such plans take into account, among other factors, the specific objectives of each customer on a portfolio-wide and property specific basis. Jason joined the company in 2013 and initially worked in the Redistribution Department prior to his helping establish and manage the Energy Procurement Department at the Company.
Jason holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kenyon College.
Director, Energy Management
As a member of the management team at the Company, Keith supervises a team of analysts in the utility redistribution department and manages a process designed to assure that the energy performance objectives of the Company’s customers are met in each case. He also is involved with various aspects of streamlining the utility redistribution process, account management, and designing and implementing measures to drive the efficiency and effectiveness of his team. Keith ensures that both timely and accurate reporting of various types are providing to customers based on their specific strategic energy objectives.
Prior to joining the Company, Keith held accounting and energy positions at A&R Companies and GGP (General Growth Properties). At A&R Companies, he was responsible for all aspects of accounting for a portfolio of properties including budgeting, journal entries, variance analysis and preparation of financial statements. As a member of the GGP utilities department, he was responsible for researching complicated utility tariff documents, creating rate logic in the company’s utility billing software, reviewing lease documents and analyzing tenant billing calculations. Keith has over thirteen years of experience in the Property Management area and uses his knowledge of energy and accounting concepts to deliver customer services at the highest levels in the industry.
Keith holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland University College and holds a Business Energy Professional (BEP) certification from the Association of Energy Engineers.
Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
Chrissy is responsible for the vision, strategy, and implementation of all aspects of information technology, security, and telecommunications for the Company. She also implements processes to support product development, deployment, and release management. In addition, Chrissy creates the product road-map by working closely with Company executives, cross-functional team members and customers to ensure alignment with strategic initiatives. Her objective is to implement cost-effective, secure, innovative, and timely IT solutions that empower Resource Energy Systems to better serve their customers.
Chrissy previously served as the Director of Information Technology at Ameritox, a toxicology testing company for pain management monitoring. While at Ameritox she created and implemented proprietary business process automation software, established a culture of security awareness and drove enterprise efficiencies. Prior to Ameritox, she implemented an enterprise web application for product information entry and report generation for The Charmer Sunbelt Group, which is one of the nation’s largest distributors of fine wines and spirits. Before joining The Charmer Sunbelt Group, Chrissy created and implemented software at Sylvan Learning to manage day to day operations of tutoring centers.
Chrissy attended Stevenson University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems and was the recipient of the Stevenson University Pin, the most comprehensive honor the University confers to its students.
Manager, Quality Assurance
Prior to joining the Company, Milissa held management positions at General Growth Properties, MMA Financial Inc. and The Rouse Company. At General Growth Properties, she was Manager, Energy Administration, and responsible for supervising tenant utility recovery revenue over numerous central and western states. At MMA Financial, Inc., Milissa was Assistant Vice President, Capital and Finance, responsible for the analysis and evaluation of the business groups’ financial statements; she also served as liaison between the accounting SOX team and the business groups’ senior managers to ensure procedures were in place necessary to become SOX compliant. At The Rouse Company, Milissa was Manager Consolidated Budgeting and Forecasting, working to develop analytical reviews to assist in the preparation of annual budget, quarterly estimates and monthly financial reporting.
Milissa’s extensive background in finance and analytics as well as her strong attention to detail make her uniquely suited to serve as Manager, Quality Assurance. She is able to bring a strong technical discipline and focus on policies and procedures to deliver the highest level of internal review within the Company and, in turn, the highest level of service to our customers.
Milissa attended Suffolk University, where she graduated with a Masters of Business Administration degree in Finance, as well as the University of Cincinnati, where she graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Finance/Marketing.
Energy Manager, Redistribution
Before joining the Company, Daniel held both management and analyst positions at Teksystems Global Services (“TKS”), an information technology services company. In his role as an analyst at TKS, his primary responsibilities included monthly accrual calculations, revenue booking, contractual interpretation and project performance analysis. As a Manager of Operations Support at TKS, Daniel lead a team of analysts that was responsible for monthly revenue recognition; he also created and implemented processes that increased reporting accuracy and profitability, including the automation of monthly discount accruals and international travel expense billing. Daniel also designed custom executive financial reports and provided monthly analysis.
Daniel graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Finance.
Lisa joined the Company in 2013 and has held a variety of accounting and finance positions of increasing responsibility. She was promoted to Controller in 2016. Prior to joining the Company, Lisa worked in accounting and financial roles at Boardroom Inc., Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings and Mercy College.
She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Manhattan College, and a master’s degree in Accounting from Mercy College.
Jeanne M. Nelson
Vice President of Operations
Prior to joining Resource Energy Systems, Jeanne held management positions at Morgan Stanley and Constellation Energy Group, Inc. At Morgan Stanley, she was responsible for all operations of the firm’s cash application function within the Private Banking Group. At Constellation Energy Group, Inc., Jeanne managed operations of the Treasury function for various business units including the wholesale trading division, the generation division, the retail and wholesale power and gas business as well as the utility itself. Jeanne’s extensive background in finance and operations as well as her strong business acumen make her uniquely suited to serve as Vice President of Operations. She is able to bring strong financial discipline and a focus on process and customer satisfaction to deliver an exemplary level of service to our customers.
Jeanne is a graduate of the University of Maryland, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
Energy Manager, Redistribution
Prior to coming to RES, Dani worked as a Program Manager for the United States Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy. Her focus was primarily in greenhouse gas emissions reduction technologies from fossil-fueled power plants. In her most recent position with the DOE, she worked with senior departmental leadership to coordinate a nationwide energy initiative which would promote the deployment of large-scale carbon capture and storage solutions. Dani has a strong background in fossil energy technologies, renewable energy, sustainability, and energy markets.
Dani holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Energy Engineering, minor in Environmental Engineering, from Penn State University. She also has a Master of Science degree in Technical Management from Johns Hopkins University.
Chief Financial Officer And General Counsel
He has served as Chairman of the Energy Committee for the Environmental Business Council (EBC) of the Commerce And Industry Association of New Jersey, a leading trade organization in New Jersey. Richard also has lectured numerous times on energy procurement and solar energy issues, including the impact of the New Jersey Energy Master Plan (EMP) proposed by then Governor Corzine on renewable energy and the overall cost of electricity in that state. In addition, he has published articles on demand response and the use of solar energy at commercial real estate properties. Richard has served as a speaker at periodic roundtable discussions conducted by the EBC on energy related subjects.
He previously served as Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel for IEM. One of the former shareholders of IEM, he teamed with Steve Schlussel in the negotiations for the sale of IEM in 2006 and was responsible for all aspects of the tax, legal and financial due diligence process leading up to the sale. As Chief Financial Officer, Richard reorganized and leveraged the resources of the thirty-five person Finance Department to significantly increase the profitability and value of the company. He was also responsible for all aspects of financial and tax reporting for the company, including such reporting as required for the forty-five states in which IEM conducts its operations. As General Counsel, Richard was responsible for virtually all contracts to which IEM was a party, including agreements with more than 1,000 hauling contractors, and was involved in extensive contract negotiations and corporate governance.
Richard has over the years advised start up and middle market companies on legal, financial and tax matters. He has lectured at many conferences and published more than a dozen articles on various financial issues related to commercial real estate. His background includes serving as an Attorney and Certified Public Accountant at Ernst & Young and other leading firms.
Richard graduated from Washington University in St. Louis and Boston College Law School.
Chief Executive Officer
Scott has been highly successful in leveraging his many years of real estate and energy experience to assemble an array of analytical solutions that are second to none in the energy management industry. Indeed, no other individual in the energy management sector has the depth of real estate development and operations experience as Scott, and with that highly specialized background he is uniquely positioned to design and implement comprehensive energy plans which serve the needs of the increasingly complex commercial real estate industry.
Prior to joining Resource Energy Systems, Scott served in various executive capacities for The Westfield Group, one of the largest and most successful shopping center owners in the world. In Development, Scott directed all components of shopping center expansion projects, most notably a $500,000,000 expansion of a center in Los Angeles that was completed under budget and ahead of schedule. His responsibilities in that role included entitlement, planning, budgeting, and full oversight of project management, construction, leasing, design and marketing.
Scott held various other positions at The Westfield Group, including Vice President National Operations, over the nearly two decades he worked at The Westfield Group and a predecessor company. In his role as Vice President National Operations, Scott was responsible for every area of operations covering more than 40,000,000 square feet of gross leasable retail space. During that time, he developed and implemented industry leading energy procurement and energy cost containment programs which together saved millions of dollars in yearly energy expenses.
Scott is a U.S. Navy veteran who served nearly four years with the armed services.
Steve brings over twenty years of experience working with leading commercial real estate companies. He is the founder and former President of International Environmental Management, Inc. (IEM), which provides waste and recycling management services across the nation to over five hundred regional shopping centers and their more than 50,000 tenants. Steve founded IEM in 1992 and guided IEM through the sale of the company in 2006 to Oakleaf Global Holdings, Inc. (OGHI), a portfolio company of the Charterhouse Group, a private equity firm. He served on the Board of Directors of OGHI during a period of rapid growth for OGHI in its sales and profitability, as well as a period during which OGHI introduced new services and products for the waste management industry. Steve continued to serve on the Board of OGHI until its sale in 2007 to an affiliate of New Mountain Capital for $655,000,000. At the time of the sale, OGHI had consolidated revenues of approximately $600,000,000 per year. IEM’s revenues and operating results comprised a substantial portion of OGHI’s overall earnings.
Prior to starting IEM, Steve was a commercial real estate broker with Edward S. Gordon Co. He had also served as a Feasibility and Financial Analyst with the Advanced Weapons Development Authority (also known as Rafael) for the Government of Israel.
Steven has an undergraduate degree in Management and an MBA in Finance, both from New York University.
Mechanical Engineer, CEM
Prior to Joining the Company, Pramod work as Energy Analyst Intern at the New York City Department of Corrections (DOC). At DOC, he worked successfully on a wide range of projects including tracking and analyzing the department’s energy data, as well as identifying and examining discrepancies and ensuring that all meter data was present and accurate. Energy management executives at the DOC relied on Pramod to review design documents for highly complex building management systems installed for three DOC facilities.
Pramod attended the City College of New York, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Energy Manager, Mechanical Engineer
Mike has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and he has benefited from having worked with some of the leaders in the energy industry and related fields.
